Weekly Review
The plant world is full of Decentralized Autonomous Organisms. One of my favorite places to visit is a greenhouse. Greenhouses are high concentrations of focused growth. There is not just one thing growing inside here. Greenhouses are multipliers of selected plants, seeds, cuttings, etc. Variety, replication, and propagation seem to be key themes in every greenhouse. Sometimes going into them alone is enough to fill one with a sense of imminent growth and an incubating environment, which can help us creatively by inspiring this feeling within us.
Springtime is here, and we are sprouting at Community DAO! Indeed, it is a bit of a happy chaos. The dormancy of the colder months is behind us, and things are happening all over. We continue to grow inside of our Discord, with a particular focus on expanding our Nigerian team of writers and designers, who continue to flock to our banner in the midst of economic and political turmoil in their country. This week we fielded over 70 reports! Yet, as you will see, we have culled all into a standing database: https://www.notion.so/a9ef593087664a1e91367662f60ea959?v=c8ea798ee4fa40d1a0c58f9410595f73 but have restricted the publication to a more digestible size. ALL reports are valued and will continue to be considered for publication going forward. However, by doing this, we do enforce some quality standards and maintain the full editorial right to publish or not any material submitted. This also creates a healthy competition to get reports in early, to write about unique events, places, or experiences in order to stand out, and in general, to push the bar of meritorious striving.
We will continue to seek reports on favorite local places going forward. Everyone has a collection of favorites, and not just one. So, let’s map out ALL of them! Maybe there is that waterfall you enjoy visiting to cool off around during a hot day. Or maybe there is a cafe that you enjoy frequenting because of the chill vibe and good music they play. Or maybe there is a special place that you know of that not many others do, a favorite seat on the bus, or just a good shade tree somewhere unique. Share these with us!
Additionally, our editor, Dr. Alina Okun, will be reviewing designs for potential selection, minting, and publication for the upcoming art print edition of “Meet You in Calabar.” Check her guideline/inspiration document here to assist you with some ideas for casting new designs to enter into our weekly design contests and database: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K3SXYuUKNDfm_cSQAIEhWu7q6Tbuvk2qg92LR4HIaYQ/edit
Another big development at Community DAO this week has been the delegation of minting tokens. To return to the greenhouse metaphor, we continue to propagate new seeds, cuttings, and centers of growth by distributing minting rights of the C0MM into a variety of “subasset tokens,” a unique property of the Ravencoin blockchain structure(see wiki: https://raven.wiki/w/Ravencoin_Wiki ) Also, the writings of lead developer, Tron Black, are a great place to learn about various aspects of functionality available on the RVN chain:
Basically, from the root seed “C0MM,” we are able to generate subasset tokens that carry an “administrator asset” with each one, enabling the minting of new NFTs. So, recently we seeded a C0MM/DAO/CORRAL, a C0MM/DAO/ART, and a C0MM/COUNTY_FAIR token, each one of which can then be used to generate unique NFTs or more replicant sub-asset tokens to further be used to enable other members of our organization to engage in minting a variety of works.
This type of delegation has become necessary. As the organization grows, the scalable reach of the core team is diffused with a lessening effect across larger numbers. That’s a good thing. We want more decentralization and distribution of power, but we also want to maintain a sense of unity and focused overall purpose, as that is what “community” is all about. And that requires delegation of authority and communication between and among new centers of power. By empowering new “seed centers,” we maximize decentralization and better ensure the longevity of the organization, avoiding the single-point-of-failure kernel weakness of centralized systems.
And each level is then able to replicate further. Even beyond those three new subasset tokens mentioned above, handled by key curators in Research and Marketing Departments, we have begun generating individual specific subasset versions so that even each designer can propagate his or her own NFT works, thus multiplying the spread of the C0MM brand even further, as well as increasing the number of their own personal designs available for sale, collection, trading, or demonstration. For example, now Jekoi is actively minting his works through the C0MM/DAO/CORRAL/JEKOI token and auctioning them at the Nifty Raven Discord: https://discord.gg/qPd5RNH9ak Check out more from this first rate RVN marketplace: https://nftrvn.net/
Others are doing so as well.
Study Evilra’s incredible weekly index to see what designs were submitted to the corral this week. Yet another record submission rate with 626 designs submttied for the Week 56 contests: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jlK5MaERlqWMdbLHQLLWhG7Z4kocOvSS3_NeDh1bnhU/edit#gid=2122615032
The County Booth continues to grow as more new booths are added. This is an experiment in a micro-economy. Each booth contains a specialized gaming bot that reacts to certain commands like /play or /roll or /start or /fish and so on, resulting in various combinations of chance that create winning opportunities. In addition, each booth also has an actual human “booth operator,” who runs and moderates the space as if it were an actual booth in a County Fair irl.
These operators are in charge of creating new game strategies using the bot’s functionality, as well as doing payouts in C0MM and C0MM Nfts. Not only does this provide recreational opportunities for our growing server, but it also begins replicating the circulation of our native tokens as prize send outs. And this causes us to rise visibly on the Ravencoin blockchain in comparison to other projects, demonstrating a healthy, busy, and active organization. Yet another week, and we have again achieved a #1 position on the entire chain for a recent 24 hour period. Check RVN Dashboard for all such stats: https://www.rvn-dashboard.com:3000/d/RFxvsAvnk/rvn-hd-dashboard?orgId=1
Again, finally, we need more participation from the West! This is such a timely project. We have an incredible and exciting scope, but we have to attract more support from Westerners to rise to the occasion. We have an opportunity to provide a sounder currency through Ravencoin than an entire national currency in dire straits, in Nigeria, and other areas as well. More in the West looking to engage, interact and support developing countries, especially in Africa, should consider dedicating their efforts in this direction. If you want to know more about this project, check our website: https://commdao.org/
And especially, check out our editor’s spectacular new publication, Meet You in Calabar! We could use your sincere support as we grow however you are able to add your voice, enabling us to grow more! The demand is currently from a highly active sector of Nigeria currently. We need to raise the supply of Western curation and service.
Let’s hear from the rest of the Community!
Best,
Dow

Boat Cruise Ride
Yeah, it was a boat cruise with my colleagues from the office. You know what they say - all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We decided to head out on a sunny Saturday to Lagos Island, which is a popular tourist destination where people come together to have fun and shoot movies and music videos.
My colleague, Lukeman, who lives on the island, organized the outing. We all met up at the water terminal where we had booked the boats. Each person paid three thousand naira, and since we were a group of twelve, we received a discount.
Before getting on the boat, they gave us orange life jackets to put on. I was a little scared as we were about to enter the speed boat, but I didn't show it. My other colleague, Patience, was really scared, so we all had a good laugh and tried to encourage her.
The guy in charge of the boat instructed us to get into the boat, and he asked those who were heavier to sit in the middle, while the slimmer ones sat on the edges to keep the boat stable.
Then we started our boat cruise. There was a machine that the guy operated, so the sound and waves from the water were splashing, and it was salty too.
We started singing and taking selfies, but at one point during our cruise, the boat stopped. We were wondering what the issue was, and the guy in charge of the boat had to fix the machine before we continued.
During our journey, I noticed that the boat was avoiding some rocks in the water. I also saw some fishermen fishing and other people returning from their own boat trips.
There were some officers manning checkpoints in the water, and as we approached, the boat guy warned us to behave and not take any more videos. The officers asked us where we were going, and we told them that we were just on a boat cruise. I noticed that these officers lived on the water, in big black balloons that floated on the surface.
We toured around the island and had a really great time. It's an experience that I will always remember.
The Apex Street Carnival (My Big Experience)
The carnival was fun last year. Calabar was vibrant and full of people. Calabar makes millions from the carnival, which draws hundreds of thousands of people. The Carnival theme last year was "Climate Change," therefore bands dressed and presented accordingly. Beautiful.
The Biker's Festival started the carnival on December 27. "Hot Wheelz" was the first biker day. It featured international professional bikers. They paraded with jaw-dropping stunts and dangerous moves. Biker festivalgoers showed off, as we all know. Governor Ben Ayade claimed that integrating the Biker's festival was an economic decision since it would draw overseas motorcyclists and bike aficionados to Calabar. He was right—many foreigners visited.
Carnival, Africa's largest street party, took place on December 28. From 7 am to 3 am the next day, the Carnival covers more than 30km, practically all of Calabar. Five competing bands and the Governor's band, including celebrities, actors, musicians, and others make up six bands. Bayside, Seagull, Passion 4, Masta Blasta, and Freedom compete. If they win, these bands follow the year's theme and get millions. Passion 4 defeated Masta Blasta, the defending champs, last year.
After the procession, all the bands performed at the stadium, including special sessions for each band's king and queen. Brazil, Italy, Belize, Kenya, and others performed. Patoranking, P-Square, and other artists thrilled the audience. The stadium, cultural center, and other locations hosted festivities the following day. Memorable.
This year's carnival with Social Prefect Tours will be larger and better; therefore, I can't wait. You should attend this significant Nigerian tourist event.
My Neighbor's Plant Farm
Living next to my neighbor's plant farm was always an adventure. The fields were a riot of color, with rows upon rows of flowers, vegetables, and herbs stretching as far as the eye could see. But the real excitement came in the form of my neighbor's love for his plants.
One day, I caught my neighbor talking to his plants, calling them by name and encouraging them to grow. You couldn't help but chuckle at sight, but as you watched him tend to his plants, you realized that his care and attention paid off in spades.
His tomatoes were always plump and juicy, his sunflowers towered above the rest, and his herbs were fragrant and flavorful. It was clear that his plants thrived under his gentle care.
But sometimes, things didn't always go according to plan. One time, my neighbor accidentally knocked over an entire row of flowers, sending dirt and petals flying everywhere. He looked mortified, but you couldn't help but laugh as he frantically tried to fix the mess.
Despite the occasional mishap, I knew that my neighbor's plant farm was a labor of love. And I couldn't help but feel grateful for the beautiful and delicious bounty that it brought to my life.
Ota Farm
Ota Farm is a large agricultural facility located in Ogun State. It is renowned for its cutting-edge agricultural practices and research. I have arranged a visit to Ota Farm, and I am really excited about this trip.
Ota Farm is an excellent opportunity to learn about modern agricultural practices and technology, which I have always wanted. I heard the farm employs cutting-edge technology, including precision farming, hydroponics, and vertical farming, to produce high-quality crops and livestock.
The farm is also home to a wide variety of crops and livestock, including vegetables, fruits, grains, poultry, and livestock, providing an opportunity to learn about different agricultural practices and food production. I will pick some of those fresh fruits.
The farm offers an opportunity to interact with agricultural experts and professionals, creating a chance to learn from their expertise and experiences.
I hope my visit to Ota Farm will be an informative and educational experience filled with modern agricultural practices, technology, and experts. I am excited about this trip, and I look forward to exploring all that Ota Farm has to offer.
Memory of a movie premiere at the Silver Bird Galleria in Lagos
Attending a movie premiere at the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos was an experience that I will never forget. As a movie lover, I was excited to be among the first to see the new movie and to be part of the buzz and excitement of a premiere event.
As I arrived at the gallery, I saw the red carpet laid out and the cameras flashing. There was a team of journalists and photographers, all waiting to capture the arrival of the movie's cast and crew. It was amazing to see the stars up close. I couldn't help but feel starstruck. I had the good fortune to run into several of my favorite star actresses and actors, including Monalisa Chinda, Monalisa Omorodion, and Omonike, and I was able to capture photos of them.
Once inside, the atmosphere was electric. The theater was filled with people, and the excitement was palpable. The walls were decorated with posters of upcoming movies, and the lights were dimmed, creating a sense of anticipation.
As the movie began, the audience fell silent, completely engrossed in the story. The high-definition picture and surround sound made it feel like we were part of the movie, and the emotions of the characters were felt by everyone in the room.
After the movie ended, the cast and crew took to the stage for a Questions and Answers session. It was interesting to hear their insights into the making of the movie and to learn more about the inspiration behind it. The session also provided an opportunity for the audience to ask questions, which added to the overall experience.
As the premiere ended, the audience was buzzing with excitement. Everyone was talking about the movie, and the anticipation for the next big release was palpable. It was an unforgettable experience and one that I will cherish for a long time to come.
Attending a movie premiere at Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island Lagos which is one of the top five cinemas in Nigeria, is an experience that every movie lover should have. The atmosphere, the stars, and the movie itself all combine to create an unforgettable night out. If you get the chance to attend a movie premiere, I highly recommend it.
My favorite place in Enugu, Nigeria
Enugu, the coal city of Nigeria, is a vibrant city that boasts a rich cultural heritage and a lively atmosphere. The city is located in the southeastern region of Nigeria and is known for its lush greenery, beautiful landscapes, and hospitable people. Enugu is one of Nigeria's most developed cities, with a booming economy and a fast-paced lifestyle. However, despite its fast-paced lifestyle, Enugu still manages to offer a serene and relaxing atmosphere, making it the perfect destination for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
One of my favorite places in Enugu is the Nike Lake Resort. The resort is located in a serene and tranquil environment, offering visitors an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The resort is built around a natural lake, providing guests with a picturesque view of the water and its surroundings. The Nike Lake Resort is an ideal place for relaxation and rejuvenation, with its lush greenery, stunning views, and tranquil atmosphere.
The resort boasts a range of amenities that cater to the needs of visitors. The hotel rooms are spacious and well-equipped with modern facilities, including air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi. The resort also features a restaurant that serves a variety of local and international cuisines, a bar, and a swimming pool. Visitors can also engage in various recreational activities such as fishing, canoeing, and horse riding.
The Nike Lake Resort is also an excellent venue for events such as conferences, seminars, and weddings. The resort has a spacious conference hall that can accommodate up to 800 guests and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as projectors, sound systems, and Wi-Fi. The resort's event planners are also on hand to assist guests in planning and executing their events, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
Another attraction at the Nike Lake Resort is the Nike Art Gallery, which showcases a range of traditional and contemporary African art. The gallery features works from both established and up-and-coming artists, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria.
In summary, the Nike Lake Resort is one of Enugu's hidden gems, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a venue for your next event, the Nike Lake Resort is the perfect destination. With its stunning views, luxurious amenities, and excellent service, it's no wonder that the resort is a favorite among both locals and tourists.
Nike Art Gallery
My visit to the Nike Art Gallery was both educational and impactful. As a lover of art, I’ve always wanted to grow more in the art world.
I had heard of the Nike Art Gallery since my secondary school days and had longed to visit. So, I finally went there with my colleague at work, Pelumi.
If you haven't been overwhelmed by art before, then you haven't entered the Nike Art Center yet. It's a massive five-story building jam-packed with different pieces of artwork. The center is said to be the largest gallery in West Africa, and it's open to the public for free. They regularly feature a diverse group of up-and-coming African artists, as well as household names.
The owner of the art center is Nike Davies-Okundaye, who grew up steeped in her family’s culture of textile making, dyeing, weaving, and painting. She’s credited with teaching thousands of young Nigerian artists over the years and providing exhibition space for their works.
There are rules and regulations in the Nike Art Gallery. Photography is only allowed with visitors in the frame, so don't snap pictures of the artwork alone. Tour guides are highly recommended to learn about the art on display, and they generally operate on a tip basis.
All of the artwork that I saw is for sale at price points ranging from a few hundred dollars to more than $20,000, so it's a huge range but definitely worth it.
While exploring some of the shops on the gallery property, I bought handmade jewelry and saw beautiful bags, textiles, clothing, and accessories.
Cultural dancers who often perform traditional Yoruba dances were present on site, and we were looking forward to meeting the owner of the place, Davies-Okundaye, who works out of the gallery but wasn't around.
Before you go, make sure to set aside at least two hours to fully experience the gallery.
My Visit to Lekki Conservation Center
It was the weekend, and my boyfriend decided to take me out on a date. Since we stayed on the island in Lagos, we didn't want to go somewhere far. He suggested we check out the Lekki Conservation Center.
When we arrived, we paid the gate fee and collected our tags at the reception. A very tall man named Kunle, who works there, showed us the way to the canopy walkway park. He gave us a brief background of the park and mentioned that Lekki Conservation Center is a nature reserve in Lagos and is one of the most visited tourist centers in Nigeria. It was evident as there were a lot of people at the center.
We took a walk through the Swamp Walk, which is a boardwalk that takes you through what Lekki used to look like before Lagos existed. While viewing the swamp, we saw Mona monkeys hanging around. The tour guide told us that this was our first chance to spot wildlife, including the African rock python, dragonfly, damselfly, crocodile, striated heron, and African jacana.
Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) was established in 1990 by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), and since then, it has grown to become one of Africa's prominent and most diverse urban Nature Parks due to its richness in high species.
There is also an establishment conservation center that is set aside as a natural habitat for plants and animals, as urbanization has led to the intrusion of areas originally meant for these plants and animals. I even saw an old tortoise that looked tired.
After playing a game of chess, we went to the chessboard to take a few photos. The board was black and white, and some of the pieces were too heavy to move around. I got tired, so I decided to take a selfie on the board.
After going through the Lekki Conservation Center, we went to the food pavilion to relax, eat and drink.
There are several reasons to visit the Lekki Conservation Centre. Firstly, to experience the longest suspended canopy walkway in Africa. Other reasons include relaxing in nature, seeing Mona monkeys, birdwatching, or simply having a good day out. Whatever your reason for visiting, be sure to enjoy.
My Visit to Lekki Conservation Centre
I had always heard about the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos, Nigeria, and was curious to explore the natural beauty of the area. Finally, I got the chance to visit the conservation center, and I was filled with excitement.
As I arrived at the center, I was greeted by a lush green forest, exotic birds, and monkeys. I immediately felt a sense of peace and tranquility, which was a refreshing change from the busy city life. I paid the entrance fee and set out to explore the nature reserve.
As I made my way through the elevated walkway that snaked through the treetops, I was amazed by the breathtaking view of the forest canopy. I spotted several species of birds, including the colorful turaco and hornbill. I also came across several monkeys playing in the trees.
The highlight of my visit was the canopy walk, a long and narrow suspension bridge that soared above the trees. As I walked along the bridge, I felt like I was walking on air and enjoyed the panoramic views of the forest.
After spending several hours exploring the conservation center, I left feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Lekki Conservation Centre. I knew that I would definitely be visiting again.
Life in the Floating Community of Makoko
Driving via Lagos' "Third Mainland Bridge," you'll pass a neighborhood that is entirely submerged in water. I had the chance to travel to this place called "MAKOKO."
Makoko is a floating community located in Lagos, Nigeria, and is home to over 100,000 residents. The community is built on water, with houses constructed on stilts and canoes serving as the main means of transportation.
Life in Makoko is challenging, as the community lacks basic infrastructure such as clean water, sanitation facilities, and waste management systems. Many residents rely on fishing as their main source of income, but overfishing and pollution have made it increasingly difficult to make a living.
Despite the challenges, the people of Makoko have developed a strong sense of community and resilience. They have formed local organizations to address the needs of the community and have worked to improve their living conditions. In recent years, there have been efforts to provide clean water and sanitation facilities to the community, and several organizations are working to develop sustainable solutions to address the environmental challenges faced by the community.
One such organization is the Makoko Floating School, a project that was initiated by the Nigerian architect Kunlé Adeyemi. The school is built on a floating platform and provides a safe and accessible learning environment for children in the community. It has received international recognition for its innovative design and has become a symbol of hope for the community.
The people of Makoko have also been the subject of international attention, with journalists and researchers from around the world coming to study the community and document its unique way of life. While the challenges facing the community are significant, the resilience and ingenuity of its residents are an inspiration to many.
Olumo Rock
Olumo Rock is one of the major tourist attractions in Nigeria with a captivating embodiment. Olumo Rock, located in Abeokuta, is a classic that stands out among other tourist attractions in Ogun state. With its surrounding lush history, Olumo Rock will never cease to bring tourists to wonder at how rocks can tell stories on their own.
The state capital Abeokuta, translated into English, means “Under The Rock” and is known for this beautiful piece of nature standing at the height of 137 meters and strategically located at the center of the state capital – Olumo Rock.
Olumo Rock was discovered by a hunter by the name of Adagba, who used the rock as a means of a fortress during the intertribal war in the 19th Century. The Egbas were part of the Oyo Empire before the empire collapsed.
The name “Olumo” is the combination of two words – “Olu” (God) and “Mo” (Moulded), the combination of these words is translated as “God has ended our troubles and sufferings.”
One of the attractive things about Olumo Rock, however, is the fact that it is easy to climb. Even before the recent renovations, Olumo Rock had stairs carved into it for easy climbing.
At the top of the rock is a beauty to behold. One will be able to see the view of Abeokuta, all covered in red corrugated roofs paralleled by thick green forests that melt into the horizon.
Olumo Rock generates its revenue from tourists. Prices range from 700 nairas for adults and 500 nairas for children. However, the prices go as high as 2000 naira if you want to use the elevator. There is also a fee to use the car park for those who drive for as low as 300 nairas.
There are several hotels for those who want to lodge upon visiting. They include Daktad Suites, Off Quarry Road, about 20 minutes drive from Olumo Rock, Dusmar Hotel, Kuto, and besides June 12 cultural center, which is approximately a 10 – 15 minute drive from Olumo Rock.
A Memorable Day at Olumo Rock
I had always heard about the famous Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Nigeria, and was eager to explore the natural wonder for myself. As I made my way to the rock, I marveled at the impressive sight of the towering monolith, which rose approximately over 130 meters above the city.
Upon arriving at the rock, I made my way to the base and began my ascent. The climb was steep, but the view of the surrounding city was breathtaking. As I climbed higher, I came across several caves, which served as hiding places for people during the Yoruba wars.
Finally, I reached the top of the rock and was awed by the stunning panoramic view of the city. From this height, I could see the bustling streets, the colorful buildings, and the rolling hills in the distance.
As I descended from the rock, I explored the nearby market, where local artisans sold traditional crafts and artwork. I even tried some of the local delicacies, which were tasty treat.
My visit to Olumo Rock was a truly memorable experience that allowed me to connect with the rich history and culture of the area. I left feeling inspired and grateful for the opportunity to explore such a magnificent natural wonder.
Zuma Rock
Zuma Rock is located in Madalla, Niger State, and is only a 45-minute drive from the nation's capital, Abuja. While traveling to Katsina in 2021, I saw the beautiful rock and quickly asked the man sitting beside me in the vehicle. It was the popular Zuma Rock that I had seen on the internet, in the news, and in documentaries.
On a clear day, Zuma Rock is visible from the city and is often called the "Gateway to Abuja." If you take a closer look at a 100 Naira bill, you'll notice a picture of Zuma Rock. However, many Nigerians have never had the chance to see the rock in person.
Zuma Rock is a large monolith located in Niger State, Nigeria. As you get closer, a human-like face becomes visible with engravings representing the eye sockets, nose, and mouth on the side of the rock facing the Abuja-Kaduna express road.
Zuma Rock represents a beautiful and unique natural work of rock formation. It offers a good environment for picnicking and relaxation.
There's even a five-star hotel called Zuma Rock Resort International Limited being constructed near the rock. Zuma Rock is undoubtedly my favorite place, and I plan on going there very soon.
Fela African Shrine
I grew up in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, and during my research, I came across the renowned music venue called the Fela African Shrine. Fela Kuti, a political activist and musician from Nigeria, famous for his distinctive brand of Afrobeat music, built The Shrine. Due to his exciting concerts and politically charged lyrics, Fela Kuti immediately amassed a sizable following after beginning to perform at the venue in the 1970s.
The Shrine is a cultural establishment that represents the rich history and tradition of African music in addition to being a concert venue. Music fans from all over the world frequently travel to the location to experience the distinctive ambiance and colorful energy of African music.
The Shrine's long history is entwined with Nigeria's political and social upheavals. Fela Kuti utilized his music to protest injustice and corruption in Nigeria during the 1970s and 1980s. The Nigerian government frequently detained and threatened him, but he refused to be silenced and persisted in using his music as a vehicle for social and political change.
Upon the passing of Fela Kuti in 1997, his son Femi Kuti assumed control of the Shrine and continued to advance African music and culture. The Shrine now functions as both a music venue and a cultural hub for political protests, poetry readings, and art exhibits.
An outstanding organization that has contributed significantly to the promotion of African music and culture is the Fela African Shrine. It has evolved into a representation of defiance against oppression and a gathering spot for people to honor Africa's rich and varied cultural heritage.
My Visit to Kajuru Castle in Kaduna State, Nigeria
I am fascinated by medieval castles, so I was excited to visit Kajuru Castle in Kaduna State, Nigeria. As I approached the castle, I was amazed by the sight of the impressive fortress, complete with towers, battlements, and a drawbridge.
As I entered the castle, I was transported back in time to the medieval era. The interior was decorated with tapestries, suits of armor, and antique furniture, which added to the authentic atmosphere of the castle. The great hall was particularly impressive, with a large fireplace, high ceilings, and a long dining table that could seat a small army.
I spent hours exploring the castle, climbing the towers, and taking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside. I even had the opportunity to try my hand at archery, which was a fun and exciting experience.
As the day drew to a close, I settled into my room, which was decorated with a four-poster bed, antique furnishings, and a cozy fireplace. The castle was quiet and peaceful at night, and I felt like I had stepped into a fairy tale.
My visit to Kajuru Castle was a truly unique and unforgettable experience that allowed me to connect with history in a very tangible way. I left feeling grateful for the opportunity to explore such an impressive fortress and eager to return again someday.
MY FIRST VISIT TO IBOM RECREATIONAL CENTER
My childhood memories are summed up with a visit to the Ibom Recreational Center, also known as Ibom Plaza.
It was during the festive period when we visited the recreational center. Before then, my parents were contemplating where to go during the festive period. I remember how my lovely sister beautified my hair by putting a female relaxer and styling it with gel. It made me look so feminine that I feel like hiding my face right now, but it was quite a lovely experience.
As we arrived at the center, we were welcomed with loud noise from the crowd. We took our seats at the cinema, and I couldn't help but admire the big television screens. It was my first time seeing such big screens, and while watching the movie, myself and my siblings were drowning in the ecstasy of it. Watching the movie alone would not be complete without accompanying it with popcorn and other edible stuff.
A Visit to Obudu Cattle Ranch
I was eager to explore the rugged beauty of the Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River State, Nigeria. As I made my way up the winding road that led to the ranch, I was struck by the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
Upon arriving at the ranch, I set out on a hike through the rugged terrain. The landscape was stunning, with rolling hills, dense forests, and babbling streams. I even had the opportunity to spot several species of wildlife, including monkeys, antelopes, and baboons.
After a long day of hiking, I retreated to my cabin, which was perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the valley below. The cabin was cozy and rustic, with a fireplace and a large deck that offered stunning views of the sunset.
The next day, I took a cable car ride to the top of the mountain, where I was rewarded with even more breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The air was crisp and cool, and the sense of peace and tranquillity was noticeable.
My visit to the Obudu Cattle Ranch was a truly unforgettable experience that allowed me to connect with nature in a profound way. I left feeling inspired and rejuvenated, grateful for the opportunity to explore such a magnificent raw wonder.
Ikot Obong
My favorite place in my town to think about is Ikot Obong. This is because it is the place where we carry out our cultural display. It is always a fun place to be. The language spoken there is Annang, and it has been a part of me since birth. I am so blessed to be able to communicate with my family in my mother tongue. I would often spend time with my grandparents and listen to them speak Annang, which was a great way to learn the language.
I love the food that comes out of Ikot Obong kitchens, from the sweet and savory dishes to the simple yet flavorful afang to the mouth-watering ekpang that is served on special occasions. Ikot Obong food is truly something special. I also cherish the traditions of Ikot Obong culture. From the birthday celebrations that involve a pig roast to the colorful parol to the hot and spicy Christmas Eve dinner, Ikot Obong culture is full of interesting and unique customs.
Ikot Obong culture has shaped who I am today. It has instilled in me a sense of pride and respect for my heritage, and I will always be thankful for the values and traditions that it has given me. I had always been fascinated by waterfalls, and the Ijesha Waterfall in Osun State, Nigeria, had been on my bucket list for years. Finally, I had the opportunity to make the trip, and I was filled with excitement.
As I made my way through the winding roads that led to the waterfall, I couldn't help but marvel at the lush green vegetation and the sound of the rushing water in the distance. Finally, I arrived at the entrance of the waterfall and paid the entrance fee.
As I made my way down the steep stairs that led to the waterfall, I could feel the mist on my face, and the sound of the water grew louder. As I turned a corner, I caught my first glimpse of the breathtaking waterfall. The sight was so mesmerizing that I couldn't take my eyes off it.
I spent hours exploring the area around the waterfall, taking in the stunning scenery and marveling at the power of nature. I even took a dip in the cool, refreshing water, letting the cascading water massage my back.
As the day drew to a close, I reluctantly made my way back up the stairs and bid farewell to the majestic Ijesha Waterfall. The experience was one that I would never forget, and I knew that I would return someday to once again be awed by its beauty.

Gurara Waterfalls
Gurara Waterfalls is a beautiful place, one of a kind, and naturally endowed with so much. My favorite place is one of the major tourist attractions in Nigeria. Located in Gurara, a local council of Niger State, North Central Nigeria, it is approximately 30 meters in height, and it lies on the Gurara River along the Suleja-Minna Road.
According to my Dad, who has been to this delightful place a couple of times, Gurara Waterfalls were discovered by a Gwari hunter called Buba before some Europeans discovered it in the late 1970s after they found it as a recreation center. Prior to the discovery of the waterfalls by the Europeans, people living in communities around it worshiped it as a deity. History also has it that Gurara Waterfalls was named after two deities called Gura and Rara.
Gurara River is a large tributary of the Niger River, and it’s always in full spate during the rainy seasons. Apparently, in January, the falls are a trickle, and visitors can swim in clear pools at the bottom of the falls. Visitors can take a day trip to the gushing Gurara Waterfalls, which is an hour drive out of the capital city of Abuja.
At Gurara, small streams diverted from the main Gurara River, running softly around rocks on top of the cliff, converging from scores of tributaries in the narrow rugged pass and dashing out from the cliff with almighty power.
Though I haven't been to the Gurara Waterfalls yet, the myth that its water can heal various health issues is amazing.

NFT and My Ideas
During the week, I was able to create some wonderful designs to be minted into NFTs, though I encountered some challenges in getting the exact design of my choice.
Using an AI image generator seemed like an easier option, but it wouldn't be as perfect as I wanted. I felt like it was me against my ideas, and I got choked up at a point.
To be creative enough to get a wonderful design using an AI image generator, you need to have the keywords, ideas of already existing images, as well as the colors and appearance of an image in your imagination.
I thought of using Photoshop to get the colors of my choice as the starting image, but I didn't have the skill to do that. Later on, I searched the app store for some color blender apps, and I found Adobe Lightroom mobile app, which was readily available to do the job with the help of its online templates.
I got the colors of my choice, blended them into an image, and used it as my starting image on an AI image generator. Below is the result of my findings.
After the creation of my design, I proceeded to mint it into an NFT.
Doing that myself was a little bit problematic, but I thanked God for DowDAO and Evilra, who assisted me throughout the process. Below is Groot Sci-fi galavanting in the list of my assets.
Lastly, I was able to handle the County Fair NFT section. I also minted a wild fox image by DaniBeehive to be distributed to winners of dice rolls soon.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read my week's update.
Do have a blessed week.
