This is an organic analysis of the formation of a DAO. As such, it develops in a case-by-case scenario. What we can understand is that by forming a community network effect first rather than a market driven bottom line, we create a place of groupthink, before anything else. This is necessarily chaotic, at first…Who started this thing? Why am I here? Who is in charge? What is the goal? Do I want to dedicate time to this effort? There’s like 100s of these things competing for my attention. I am a person! What do they want from me? Ah, but there are other interesting people around. Hmmm…What does this person think over here? Oh, she’s got a cool project she is looking for help on. This guy here needs a logo for his company? Could I help him? Wait, there is the project lead now, he is up there talking about tokenizing real estate and how this is the fundamental aim? That sounds cool maybe. Minting the first AirBNB to the Blockchain? Yeah, that sounds like a great project. Yes, I want to own some sliver of paradise and travel there some day.
But behind everything is the concept of “Community.” This is what makes the effort a different approach than previous business models. And because of this difference things operate in a more roundabout manner on certain levels. When people ask questions in the “Group Chat” channel, anyone who is a member can answer. And what we find is that we all have some variations of what we believe is actually the true mission of CommDAO. It is refreshingly confusing! Yet we build a specific community at Community DAO, as a hub of the community building process, with visible personalities molding the process, and this has particular manifestations in this social web3 experiment. In studying as many threads as possible, this is what is going on as close to the center as we can speculate…
We talked to Igor Ilyinsky (aka “Rogi”) about his thoughts on ETH Denver 2022 and in particular, the DAO conference held there that he hosted, called DAO Denver. Rogi told us about his history in computer tech and how he began to maneuver towards Bitcoin, Ethereum and the new web3 models popping up in the past few years. Rogi’s perspective is quite inspirational and one point he kept returning to was that the part of the new model that needs to replace the old, is in not having countless efforts towards achieving the same goal. So instead of having 10,000 people working on inventing the wheel, in mutually exclusive cells unaware of one another, that only one guy or group will break through and succeed in building, everyone else’s effort being wasted, Web3 offers the innovation of a community wide effort, facilitating better division of labor and more effective communication, as we work towards common goals. Of particular note, was his discussion of Swarm technology, which may be an extremely effective model for representative governance. See Alina’s minutes of our podcast below to follow up.
This week, we moved from developing a baseline 1st tier currency token called the Commtoken for paying our contributors and establishing a core method of ranking through allocation of rewards, towards another, higher tier of investment, the CommNFT, which will be more of a governance token. One way to look at it is that Commtokens are the money of this realm and CommNFTs are the property holdings. Meanwhile, we eagerly await the outcome of the Commtoken art design contest. Soon we shall have some original money, available for earning and spending. Exciting!!!! Stay tuned…

Out Of This World
Greetings! While deciding on the theme for this week’s column, I’ve been overwhelmed with my own questions. Basic questions about what I am trying to say that will be of value to the group’s purpose as well as my own mission. About why am I exploring DAOs and cryptocurrency in the first place (I’m a scientist and educator by trade).
I’ll use this week’s column to express several questions that I have, then hope to address them in future editions as I continue to grow and learn about the metaverse and DAO opportunities.
This week I’ve been learning more and more about DAOs and particularly thinking about the ‘decentralized’ aspect. An entrepreneur may see a DAO as a vehicle to accelerate project development. No doubt that they are revolutionary in concept, and the paradigm of decentralization plays well to independent builders of different varieties. While this lack of centralization gives the DAO a great deal of strength, it also presents it with challenges in how to operate the organization.
How will decentralization be balanced with essential central decision making? How will the DAO sharpen both a broad and narrow focus so as to innovate and explore while also getting stuff done?
What’s more, the effectiveness of a DAO to make decisions for the group will largely be determined by its self-coded bylaws. Laws made by DAO creators to “keep us from doing evil shit’, as Rogi said on Friday’s awesome Twitter space.
How can we create bylaws so as to prevent the less honorable but very real parts of human nature from emerging? How can we do ‘good stuff’ in a DAO that helps others and gives us a sense of fulfillment? How can DAOs connect with one another and support each other toward achieving their goals and inter-DAO collaboration?
More specifically, if you read Jkey’s piece in CommLink2, you will get a nice bullet-point overview of the Decentralized Science (DeSci) movement. How can we use science to make our lives better? And what does a better life mean to me? Or you? Or all of us together, as a group? We know there are for-profit DAOs and charitable DAOs. Can we make a for-profit DAO into an entity regularly accomplishing charitable deeds?
How can we help others in need? And when we do, who should we help first? Could it be through innovative education? Looking beyond our immediate goals, it may be a community decides to invest in DeSci research or educational development (eg edudao.org).
The DAO’s community and leadership will decide answers to these questions. The makeup of our community at liftoff is extremely important for future organizational accomplishments.
Imagine educational systems functioning as a DAO. Where students and faculty weigh options together and vote on curricular development. Currently, students pay tuition money and faculty decide what they will learn. An educational DAO may be more empowering than buying entrance to a program under a centralized Dean’s office. Similar to how investing in a DAO can be more empowering and satisfying than buying stock from a CEO.
The present is a time of great upheaval and change. So while continuing to learn about gas fees, tokens, cryptocurrency, and DAOs, I also will strive to pay attention to the many great unanswered questions
and opportunities in play. And the potential for worldwide community revolution to help live better lives.
In the meantime, I will keep asking questions and also try to answer a few. And if you have answers to any of these questions, please message me or share them!
Until next time, House DOCMikeG

I remember when I went off to college (On Wisconsin!) and the concept of ever living with either of my parents again seemed silly. Then I got into my 30s and decided to make the move from Wisconsin to Las Vegas without knowing anyone.
Fast forward to present day, and my father wants to get out of Wisconsin in the winter and live in Vegas with me for part of the year. I thought the idea was dead on arrival, until I learned of the rising popularity of multigenerational homes.
So what are multigenerational homes? They are homes with the idea that families with multiple generations live under one roof. The key difference between these homes and regular homes are separate living corridors and home entrances for increased privacy.
Here are the benefits of owning a multigenerational home;
- Aging parents can move in with their children with limited interruption
- Extended visits from family or friends run more smoothly
- Separate corridors in the need for family nannies
- Most importantly, it’s economically efficient
Let’s face it, multigenerational living wouldn’t be nearly as popular today as before the Great Recession if the cost of home ownership didn’t skyrocket like it did over the last ten years.
Out in Vegas, home prices continue to increase at double digit rates. In addition, desirable homes are usually scooped off the market in merely days after being placed on the market.
It’s no wonder that an estimated 1 in 5 Americans now live in a multigenerational home, which is up over 25% in the last ten years.
Would Community DAO ever invest in a multigenerational home? That remains to be seen. It may be more likely in the future that people unrelated to one another may enjoy the benefits of these kind of homes, especially if they prefer a more suburban atmosphere over the city.
As we look forward for the better days in The Community DAO, the ambassadors, whose job is aimed at bringing in new members from all aspects of life to our discord server, following up and promoting our project through our social media handles.
They have been doing as agreed and today, I'll like to bring to the spotlight, the top 5 memes posted within the week.
Within the week, we had series of informations and promotions which most of it were focused on becoming a real estate investor from your phone with as little as $50.
The ambassadors did different infographics, videos and blog contents on this, explained it based on their different levels of understanding and I believe that the right information has been shared to their audiences.
For the top 5 memes, we have:
