Weekly Review
Membership has its privileges, especially in a DAO. How else can we organize a “decentralized organization” except through the establishment of ranked stakes and voting roll calls as a method of fair polling and assessing consensus? In the wake of the recent crypto crash, many NFT projects broke down and failed. Gannon Breslin, CEO of Coinbase, argues for a view of NFTs that will survive as an exclusive pass or VIP status giving access to certain properties, events, or perks beyond their function as unique collectibles minted to a blockchain, which was essentially the first incarnation of NFTs on the market scene over the past 2 years.
But in order to develop that capacity for an NFT series, there must be an attractive project or seed idea driving organizational activity towards the need for token markers that offer more than just imagery and hype to holders, buyers, investors, collectors, and crypto enthusiasts. One of the biggest obstacles to development seems to be a lack of purpose, depth, or drive. Small teams of active developers are therefore important to catalyze larger groups into action by volunteering and giving their time and energy to ideas in which they believe. Part of the test, though, in the new paradigm, is how selfless can they be and willing to yield control to automated impersonal algorithms and coding once those models have been constructed and perfected?
People have to be animated or inspired to curate a project or to buy into it, to make it their own. If there is a narrow scope or limited appeal or a poorly conceived vision, no one will care to build, engage, or participate. And reasons for success or failure can be as varied, random, even lucky as landing on the right slot at the right moment in a spin of a massive wheel of fortune. However, failures could also occur because of the difficulty in communicating possibilities effectively enough in areas still largely uncharted or new to mainstream crowds during an economically volatile period full of uncertainty.
So, what is exciting about your project? And what is it that makes you want to work hard? What ideas or experiences could you build a club around? What is it that excites you the most? For me, the most exciting prospect is a grand journey to a new land and access to novel experiences.
This leads us to our own project at CommDAO, our imminent partnership with Alterverse on the subject of a metaverse property in the exquisite rising virtual world space known as Sky City…
Escape To Sky City!
We are building a pipeline for our community to enter an entirely new world, with new possibilities for interaction, networking, and the construction of a planetary, international economy, without traditional borders, reaching beyond national regulations.
We are not just building an organization, we are building a new type of country or a colony or even a civilization. It’s an opportunity to immerse in perfect geometrically modeled paradise planes/dimensions/worlds, where we discover that the ultimate necessary component for gathering together, is essentially mental and psychological participation in a common environment, be that a computer-generated world or space or park IRL. The possibilities are vast and uncharted.
So, this week we encourage you to reach out and connect with our community. Inquire about the status of our project. Ask how you can join. We will not open the NFT drive until we have at least 500 members in our Discord. Let’s make it happen, folks!
The foundation of the governance of CommDAO is CommClub. CommClub is a 3 tiered networked membership minted on the Ravencoin blockchain. In order to join CommClub, you will go to the Ravenist marketplace when the drive opens, and purchase 1 of 3 Membership Card NFTs, depending on your intended level of involvement. The basic structure of Membership is Blue, Silver, and Gold. Each level offers different sets of access codes and/or property ownership, affording entry into the CommTower.

How to Contribute to a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO)?
The first thing to know is that DAOs are just like any other organization. They have a mission, goals, and stakeholders. The difference is that they are decentralized and autonomous — they're not controlled by any central authority.
This means that every decision is made by the community of stakeholders in the DAO through voting or other mechanisms.
You can contribute to a DAO in many different ways, but first...
Find the right DAO for you.
There are many different kinds of DAOs, and they typically have different focuses and applications. Some DAOs aim to solve social problems; others are more focused on financial gain.
To find the right DAO for you, look for one that aligns with your values and interests. You can do this by reading about the types of DAOs available, learning about their mission statements and goals, and then narrowing down your search based on what's important to you.
After deciding which type of DAO is right for you, set aside some time to research it further and learn about how it operates, its mission statement, and how much support there is behind it.
Consider whether or not the organization aligns with your values. If it doesn't feel like a good fit, don't waste your time getting involved.
Contribute to the development of the DAO
Use your skills in software development, marketing, design, etc. If you don't have any experience in these areas but still want to contribute, there is always room for people who can help with communication or content creation. For example:
You could write code or documentation for an existing project.
You could make suggestions for improvements.
You could organize events such as meetups, hackathons, etc.
You could create new projects around a particular DAO.
Participate in community discussions
Make suggestions and provide feedback on projects. While this is the most basic way to contribute to the organization, it is also the most important one, because it allows everyone to be heard.
Read and comment on DAO discussions. Help people understand how things are going in the DAO. Contribute with your knowledge by being active on the DAO's forums, answering questions, and sharing useful resources.
Contribute to building the infrastructure around the DAO
The DAO infrastructure includes all kinds of tools, platforms, and other services that will be needed in order for the DAO to operate smoothly. These could include:
Voting platform or voting mechanism
Content management system
A liquidity provider platform that allows people to provide liquidity for projects funded by the DAO
A reputation system for contributors
Other software tools (such as accounting software)
Vote on proposals
Vote on proposals and decisions made by the organization. A proposal is a request for funding or action that is submitted by a member of the DAO. Proposals can be submitted by anyone, but they have to be voted on and approved by the community before they can be implemented.
In order to vote on a proposal, you will need to have some tokens from the DAO. The more tokens you have, typically, the more weight your vote has.
The DAO allows its members to vote on proposals submitted by other members through a democratic process where everyone has an equal voice. In order for a proposal to pass, it needs enough votes from the community so that it reaches quorum (a minimum number of votes required). Once a quorum has been reached, the proposal will be either accepted or rejected.
In some DAOs, token holders can choose to delegate their votes to others who are more knowledgeable about specific topics or projects within the DAO.
Propose an idea or project
If there is a problem or something is missing within an existing DAO, then anyone in that DAO can propose an improvement or new idea to help solve that issue. This is typically done by creating a proposal document, which includes details about your proposed idea and how much money it will cost.
Proposing ideas and projects doesn't take much time, but there are a few things you should keep in mind when doing so:
Make sure you're proposing something that makes sense for your organization's mission statement and goals.
Make sure your idea isn't already being worked on by someone else within the organization (or if it is, let them know about your proposal).
If possible, try to include some sort of budget for whatever project you're suggesting (even if it's just an estimate).
Wrap up
Contributing to a DAO can make you part of an exciting new movement towards self-organization and democratized control. Getting involved with a DAO can be a fun, rewarding experience that lets you contribute to and support projects that matter to you.

Types of scams in web3
Web3 is a new world filled with tons of exciting opportunities and tons of not-so-exciting scams. Billions of dollars have been lost in web3 scams and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
In this article, we’ll cover the types of web3 scams and how to spot a scam in web3.
The two main types of web3 scams are Wallet scams and Rug pulls. Sure there are other types of scams in web3 but these are the most common and can be somewhat avoided.
Wallet Scam
Wallet scams are scams that happen based on a wallet compromise, it could be either connecting your wallet to a malicious contract or giving your secret phrase out.
NEVER GIVE ANYONE YOUR SECRET PHRASE
A common wallet scam is a scam normally done by spambots, where you are asked to fill a form with your secret phrase so a problem can be resolved for you. In web3 no one should know your secret phrase.
Another common wallet scam is the wallet connect scam. This scam is done by leading someone to a site and the person connects his/her wallet to the site, thereby giving the contract the ability to take your funds.
A common way this happens is when a scammer creates a replica of a popular web3 site and then just changes a character or two in the site link. For example, Openseea.com. Take note of the double e. It can be hard to notice these subtle disparities but making a habit of confirming the links is always a good thing.
Rug Pulls
This is your typical crypto token scam, also called pump and dumps, where a team or influencer creates artificial hype around a token, drives the price up, and sells all his tokens to tank the price.
This is a common one as it's mostly done by influencers you’re supposed to ‘trust’.
There is also typical rug pulls where a creator makes an NFT project, markets it well and after it sells out, he or she deletes all the social media channels and stops working on it.

A new sense of cultural identity from a different perspective of currency
This is the case for NFTs. It was once true that Harriet Tubman would be on our $20 bill, but as of today, that dream has not come true. Who picks the order of money printing, anyway? Do we vote on that specific person? If we need money to participate in society, should we not have a direct say in who we worship? Dali Lama XIV once said “share your knowledge, it is a way to achieve immortality.” We want a say in whom we immortalize. How much does the average American know about Ulysses S. Grant? Many people couldn’t even name who was on the $50 bill let alone describe his accomplishments. NFTs often come in procedurally generated variants and each one could be used to describe a different part of Grant’s legacy, or even be composed of visuals describing all of the civil war and what we were fighting to end.
Money is power, but who owns the printing press?
At the core of any group endeavor is the information of how the tasks are going to be accomplished. In the United States everything is tracked via the US dollar, our purchases, our sales, and our respect for our founding fathers. It has been a long time since we were founded and many things have changed. Theodore Roosevelt fought to save our country and is the reason why many of our forests are still standing today - he deserves some recognition. Many would happily spend an Albert Einstein $40. Harriet Tubman deserves her place along with so many other people for their lifelong dedication to making the world a better place for everyone.
NFT University
You’re probably wondering what the point I'm trying to make is, or maybe you’re also annoyed that our government moves so slowly. My point is that we can just take that power back from them. Most people who talk about NFTs are labeled as tech bros or sound like people trying to make a quick buck from the internet, but NFTs can be so much more than that. NFTs are not just art, but art whose value exists in more than just one place. If an Abraham Lincoln’s $1 is a monument to our fight to end slavery, could we not make an stablecoin of Martin Luther King JR? Or perhaps if it wasn’t a stablecoin could it be an NFT where all of the money is donated to the fight to end institutionalized slavery? How about a Rosie the Non-Fungible Riviter Token, an Ann Frank we-shouldn’t-do-the holocaust-again Dollar, or a Marie lets-get-more-girls-helping-to-find-a Curie Science Education Fund. I could do this all day, but I think you get the picture.
If our money is designed to be enshrined in the collective memory of humanity and is used to collect information about our choices, money holds an essential place in informing our collective decisions. We are often told we vote with our dollar, but part of that vote has already been cast for us by people who are no longer alive. The other side of the coin is literally buildings that both exist and are being shoved in our faces. I want to give my kids princess castle money in their allowance so they get something they believe in that has intrinsic value.
The Book of the DAO’d
Money can also be used to represent treasures that can resurge in value. If Edgar Allen Poe’s books were NFTs, they might not have sold until he died. Perhaps the Ann Frank bill never takes off because people aren’t worried about a resurgence of hate now but in 2086 a kid logs onto the superweb and sees a Hitler-did-nothing-wrong NFT and feels inspired to act against it. they could easily remarket the Ann Frankenstein NFTs to combat the resurgence of hate.
Us, Here, Now
The problem with having a single reserve currency is that it is nearly impossible to accurately and ethically account for economic growth. By reinforcing the power of having basic principles create the pathways to human goals we can contraindicate economic nonsense that leads to stalled development. Furthermore, we can assess planetary need for certain forms of development and weigh it against development that can be done over a longer period of time. We can move multiple areas of our lives into a decentralized online environment giving human focus to planetary sustainability on a larger scale. A common argument against space travel is to point at all of the things that need to be fixed here: our distribution networks, our workplaces, our international relations. Not everyone needs to focus on these things at once and in fact they can already focus on other things by donating the money they earn. By moving to an NFT economy and a digital art environment, we can support a myriad of ideas and futures without sacrificing our own will being. Immagine the sistine chapel. How many generations did Michaelangelo inspire with his paintings? Now with NFTs we can all be a part of the papacy that votes on what artwork will be enshrined in the hearts and minds of the people.
Human-Computer Vision
With new advancements in artificial intelligence, we are able to pull art and cultural symbols out of thin air. Many people fear that AI will one day control us, a terrifying prospect; however, in the present moment, we have an unprecedented opportunity to work with this intelligence and harness the power of computer vision to design our own Sicily. Have you ever asked yourself what Salvador Dali’s painting of the clocks represent? Someone looking at it for the first time could write a full length essay relating purely to their own experiences. If we input “girl who cries over broken steampunk glasses” and an algorithm generates a 10 second gif of that image. We can unlock our feelings from that image to invoke a multitude of emotions in others, including in a future intelligence made purely in silicone. We are begging to unlock a strange power that was once reserved to the Medici’s of the past. Now you no longer have to have vast fortunes to be heard and that’s the way it should be. AI needs to recognize who we actually are and we are not the president of the United States or a family that has been in power indefinitely. We are the people.
Alexander the great Valued silver until there wasn't enough silver to work for the growth of their accomplishment. Inflation is bound to humanity and humanity refuses to stop working to build bigger and brighter futures. Instead of cutting our silver coins with less precious metals or trusting a single currency to not get swallowed up by greed, let's diversify the foundational core of value itself.
