Weekly Review
Decentralized governance contains inertia and lacks purpose. Boo. Meh. We enter the space, and it seems there is no one to tell us what to do. We must find our way. We see certain reference points, threads of projects, some activity here, occasional conversation there. What is going on? People pass in and out of the space. Who is in charge?
The answer is that, theoretically, no one is in charge of “the Community” in a DAO. “DIY” and “DYOR” are key acronyms in this space. But so is “WAGMI” and the constant focus on maintaining concepts like network effect and group effort. But, apart from the spirit of collaboration, it is up to individuals to self-motivate to find the warm center of any project, and voluntarily engage. No one will coerce you or tell you what to do. You must make your voice heard or find a chosen niche, in order to help or to develop a protocol or to get something done. This is an important point distinguishing this type of business from traditional corporations and the hierarchies of central command nodes.
And let me say this right now. You must have a generous disposition if you want to get anywhere in web3. You must be creative, resourceful, friendly, and giving, in order to make headway. You must slow down and make friends and be interested in your neighbor’s welfare, and just care, as a human being.
The Community is made up of members who are collaborating on some fronts but, in our utopian vision, they rely on an automated structure of decision making that members agree is fair and just or effective in expressing the Community’s will, when necessary. So, again, there is no visible central authority. There may be curators there to guide the process and energize the group, but the end goal is a self-propelling perpetual motion machine that takes advantage of contemporary computer technology and its ability to run algorithms that reflect consensus more effectively than earlier models of representative government have done.
A good example of a relevant analogy would be the evolution of music from analog days into the digital age. Originally, in ancient times, if you wanted to hear music, there had to be a musician around. Over time, methods of recording were developed which enabled one to create copies that could be heard anytime and in any place, regardless of a musician’s current activities or position in time and space. Slowly, methods of splicing different music pieces or sets together appeared, taking us out of linear cycles even further and enabling one to collect series or organize groupings of similar themes. Fast forward now to a constantly updated worldwide computer network that can isolate a melody’s characteristics, identify it, and coordinate it with other similar melodies, instantaneously creating an endless playlist radio station based on your current favorite song! We’ve come a long way since drum circles around the fire. If we are seeking a particular vibe, all we have to do is type it into the search bar.
But how do we get to the same place in human governance models? What does that automated structure look like? Can we really get over human fallibility and corruption in circles of power? Could a representative algorithm be standardized in a modular fashion around one key formula or size that fits all? It seems that DAOs coalesce around specific areas of interest or campaigns that seem to energize a group and focus its energies towards buying or selling nft governance tokens. That is the normal pattern. Yet we are still in an experimental phase with each group developing its own modus operandi.
And that is the stage we have reached at CommDAO. It is time to establish the DAO with an authentic organizational structure. We would like to invite you to assist us in this project.
How will we do this?
Through the means of an NFT drive that will result in the opening of the CommTower building in the metaverse ecosystem of Sky City, by Alterverse, and the creation of CommClub as the primary governance body for the Community DAO. This is a Summer long project and we invite you to join us now in working out the manner in which this will operate and devolve.
The structure of governance tokens will be based on the layout and access ability and ownership of various portions of the CommTower.
Principal Considerations
One must be willing to stake something forward in order to qualify to participate in governance. At the very base level, the governance NFT is a share bought to signal and record this investment in the group effort of CommDAO. If you are unwilling to do this, you can be in the DAO and you can have your voice heard, but you will not be a member of CommClub or be able to make decisions that will involve budget allocations and disbursements of funds for projects and protocols.
Let’s say right now that a $50 NFT is the base vote power in CommClub. It costs $50 to join CommClub as a first-tier Blue Member. That enables you to vote on proposals and to enter the 1st floor of the CommTower, which will have a lounge and various available member activities, including passes to the pool and other areas of special interest within CommTower.
The next level is a $100 NFT that gives you membership in CommClub for 1 year and access to floor 1 and floor 2 in CommTower. It equals 2 votes in CommClub for those who buy it.
The final tier of base membership is a $150 NFT that gives you membership in CommClub for 1 year and access to floor 1, floor 2, and floor 3 in the CommTower. It equals 3 votes in CommClub for those who buy it.
These dues must be renewed each year to maintain governing status in the club and the DAO. This is the least amount of participation and investment available currently.
Floors 4 and 5 in the CommTower are allocated for nft reward slots to top Ambassadors and CommDAO curators for office space and administration.
Beyond that, we sell ownership of floors in the CommTower. We can build up to 40 floors and not less than 25. Base price point for floors 6-15 is $1000 also worth 20 NFT governance tokens or votes in CommClub.
Floors 16-40 begin at $1500+ (or 30+ votes in CommClub) but then are auctionable at higher price points. These “penthouse suites,” in addition to more exquisite views, have rooftop helicopter access codes, and possibly some other perks.
That is the basic system. The primary question that still plagues our speculative development of governance in the DAO, is this: How do we avoid a basic situation of people with the highest monetary investment being able to control the governance indefinitely?
Is it not a basic tenet of our contemporary political layout, that we do not want a system controlled only by those with the most money?
For sure, we do not. The way that we honor investment efforts and simultaneously prevent numerical majority monopolies is by distributing the sovereignty of the DAO into 2 categories, one based on numerical voting power, and the other based on diversity of interest. Then we require both sectors to be in agreement in order to make core decisions.

How DAOs Support Many Personal Interests In Your Work Life
Most people want to be happy and fulfilled.
They want to be able to express different parts of themselves in their professional life. However, it's difficult to bring all the many parts of yourself together into a single, cohesive whole. It's hard to do what you love and have fun at work when you're also concerned about keeping your job.
Problems with traditional jobs
When we think about a traditional career, many of us imagine ourselves climbing a ladder to achieve success. We go from one job to another, each one building on the last. Most people envision their working lives as starting in one field, gaining experience, and moving up to another level in that same field.
The traditional 9-5 workplace structure does not allow for any sort of diversification in activity or interest. Individuals work for one employer at one job for 40 hours a week (or 50 or 60 hours). In that kind of environment, people tend to focus on one set of skills and hone them over the years.
The problem with this approach is that it is designed around a model of a single career path. People are groomed from a very early age to be experts in a specific area, and then they are expected to continue to apply that expertise until retirement. However, many people simply do not want to do just one thing for their entire lives. Forcing to focus on only one thing causes them frustration and dissatisfaction.
Benjamin Franklin was known for the many interests and pursuits he had throughout his life, especially as a young man. He revolutionized the printing industry in Philadelphia, became an author and publisher, invented bifocals, founded the first fire insurance company in America, and became a leading figure in politics.
We don't see too many people like Benjamin Franklin today because modern jobs tend to pigeonhole us.
The future of work is changing
The rise of automation, AI, and other technologies has made it possible for people to do more with less time spent on labor-intensive tasks. We can now spend more time on creative activities that require human intelligence.
This also means that there are more opportunities than ever before. As technology advances and economies evolve, jobs that have never existed before are emerging every day. With all these opportunities come new ways of thinking about our careers:
- What if we could choose how many hours we want to work each week?
- What if we could choose in which projects we want to participate?
- What if we could decide how many different interests we want to pursue at once?
These are questions that are incompatible with traditional employment models but now seem to go hand in hand with DAOs.
In DAOs, we can express who we are
We live in a world where people have multiple interests and passions.
We want to pursue these interests outside of our jobs, but most of us are tied down by our current employment structure. In order for us to be happy and fulfilled, we need an environment that allows us to express ourselves in multiple ways. This is where DAOs come in.
DAO stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. The idea behind a DAO is that it is run and governed by people who have the same interests. DAOs present one of the most exciting new business models of our generation.
They offer a new way to create and manage a company with no central authority or management structure. These decentralized organizations are owned by everyone in them, yet they can still function as a corporate entity. DAOs are often used in conjunction with smart contracts that can be executed automatically once certain conditions are met (e.g., a payment is made).
The idea behind DAOs is that you can build a company without having to hire employees or own any assets yourself. Instead, you could pay experts for their time and talents on a project-by-project basis. This allows you to keep your overhead low while still having access to high-quality talent. Over 4,000 DAOs already exist, and many more will be launching soon.
DAOs present a new way of thinking about a career. We can work for several DAOs with different missions, diversifying our activities and skillsets throughout the week. We no longer have to commit to one field or passion. Instead, we can find different activities that we enjoy and learn them over time. This kind of freedom is almost impossible with a traditional job.
The DAO structure helps keep work interesting and gives individuals the ability to express multiple parts of who they are. We can connect with people who share our interests and passion from all over the world. We can collaborate with others who share our goals and mission.
The traditional corporate structure is based on the idea that employees are fungible. If employees don't perform, they can and will be replaced. In a DAO, we can experiment and take more risks without the fear of losing our job. This is not only good for innovation, but it's also good for our health and happiness.
With DAOs, we can explore all of our multiple interests at once without sacrificing any of them — because we're no longer dependent on a single employer.
Bringing it all together
DAOs are emerging as a way to structure work that is more flexible and rewarding than a traditional job. DAOs can help us maintain multiple interests in our professional life while also helping us build the skills we need to succeed in the future.

The Liberty of Community
At the heart of the fight of revolutionary wars, there is one objective. Freedom from the tyranny of being controlled by people who did not exist in the community they were ruling over. For millennia, kings and queens have fallen because they did not take care of the citizens who gave them power. These monarchies mostly fall either to revolution or lose to other kingdoms who have held a grander truth. The French helped America to overcome their oppressors and the French revolution showed the world that in the end logic will win. Now, with armies encircling the globe and chemical warfare being used to suppress our outrage at the system, we are left with very few options to uphold what founded what was once the freest nation in the world, the people. Einstein believed that substance was the root of our existence and Web 3.0 has a vision and pathway substantial enough to ensure peace and domestic tranquility for all people on the planet.
Gone are the days of working Republics controlled by small groups of people. With the current pace of technological advancement, it is impossible to keep our laws in line with what is most beneficial to our existence. Web 3 is the solution to our needs. With proper voting structures and programs that incentivise learning and creativity, we can craft our laws so Martin Luther King Jr’s dream will finally come true. With cooperation from people of all nations, we can unify our planet so we can all live in harmony with one another. We must be crazy enough to take on that effort.
When people are attempting to become citizens of the United States, they must take a test to prove their knowledge of the history and function of the Government. At the heart of any great nation is a well-educated group of individuals who believe in what their collective power is doing to advance the world. At the heart of any union is the belief that love will carry forward no matter what obstacles we encounter. In order for our civilization to continue advancing, we need every person who so chooses to be well educated to be backed by the power love brings to the table. Every nation, every organization, and every ecosystem on Earth can be reunited by giving people the liberty to support each other. This support forms the foundation of community and community is the actualization of our dreams of peace.
We must not be complacent in our thinking. We must continue to advance the cause of truth and justice, otherwise, the sacrifice of those who came before us will have been in vain. Every person deserves Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness and that will not come to be until enough people understand the true nature of our being. We are products of the past as we come from people who fought to give us the rights we have now. We are beings in the present and we deserve to be able to take part in all of the freedoms we can come up with. We are visions of the future and we deserve to die knowing our dreams will live on. We owe it to our ancestors, ourselves, and our children that the truth of the people, for the people, and by the people will carry on indefinitely.
If money were no object, how would we ensure everyone gets a voting say in the progress of mankind? If the education of events and history helps inform us of the greatest possible outcome, how do we ensure everyone has the opportunity to advance their knowledge and contribute to the governance of humanity? How can we see the future as naturally as a seed sees the tree it will become? The answer is by creating the first seed and allowing it to evolve with our ever changing understanding of ourselves and environments while awarding the awareness of why we need structure in the first place.

What Does Web3 Mean for the Future of Work?
The emergence of blockchain technology has already begun reshaping the way we look at ownership and the transfer of value. It is safe to say that as the world changes and technology progresses, the ways we humans collaborate and create value have room to fundamentally change as well. In this article, we will learn about how Web3 and DAOs have the potential to drastically alter the future of work.
What is Web3?
If you’ve spent much time on the internet lately, you’ve surely heard of the terms cryptocurrency, NFTs, and blockchain. Web3 is simply the shorthand way of referring to websites/organizations that utilize these technologies.
Just like how NFTs have reshaped the art and ownership world, and crypto has reshaped the way we look at money. An emerging web3 trend has already begun to change the way people collaborate, work, and start businesses – DAOs.
What is a DAO?
A Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) is a community-contribution-powered entity with no central authority. In theory, DAOs are designed to be governed by their individual members who democratically vote on critical decisions regarding the future of the organization, its technical specifications, and treasury allocations. The proposals for these critical decisions are usually programmed into blockchain-based smart contracts, and upon their approval by the community, are automatically integrated into the organization’s source code.
Members’ voting leverage is most often directly tied to the number of native tokens they hold in their cryptocurrency wallets. These tokens, which technically represent the amount of ownership an individual has in the organization, are fully liquid and can be freely traded on a centralized/ decentralized cryptocurrency exchange. The value of the token, like shares in a company, fluctuate depending on the supply and demand of the said token.
How Will Web3 & DAOs Change the Way We Work?
Freedom
Today, people with hard skills in development, UI/UX, graphic design, and copywriting have already begun quitting their 40-hour per week jobs to contribute and work for DAOs. Instead of signing a contract that pledges their allegiance to a single company, contributors have the freedom to work on multiple different projects and choose the ones that resonate with their mission and values the most.
Fulfillment
According to a recent Gallup poll, around 85% of Americans feel disengaged at work. This is likely because most feel as if they are repeating monotonous tasks and hold little to no stake in the actual success of their employer. With DAOs, as workers earn their pay, they’re also earning a stake and increased voting rights in their organization. Because workers have more say in the vision and future of the organization, they will feel more engaged in their work and receive the fulfillment of helping build a business/organization.
How Will It Look?
Depending on what your skillsets are, your future workday in a DAO world could look completely different. Perhaps you’re passionate about entrepreneurship and will spend your time building 1 to 2 organizations from the ground up. Perhaps you’re an expert in graphic design and decide to operate as a freelancer, accepting multiple jobs per week for different DAOs. Regardless of your path, you will be earning an ownership stake and voting rights for every contribution you complete.
Conclusion
The DAO ecosystem is still extremely new – no one is exactly sure how DAOs will change and interact with the future of the working world. However, $11B has flooded into the industry since the beginning of 2021 and DAOs are already serving as replacements for people’s 9-5 jobs. Many talented minds are already forming the basis of the infrastructure needed to make a ‘DAO future’ more likely.
How To Get Started With Web3?
What is web3?
Web3 was coined by John Markoff. It’s an enhanced version of the decentralized internet built on blockchain, and it’s a third-generation of the internet that comes with more characteristics like verifiable, trustless, self-governing, permissionless, stateful, and native built-in payments.
Simply put, web3 is the promise of decentralization of the internet. An internet not controlled by big corporations but by users.
To get started interacting with web3 you need a wallet, for newbies preferably two wallets. One centralized like Coinbase or FTX, another decentralized like Metamask or Phantom.
Opening a centralized wallet is pretty easy so we’ll focus on creating a decentralized wallet the metamask wallet.
Metamask is one of the largest wallets in the web3 ecosystem.
Here’s the official website of Metamask: https://metamask.io/
Install the wallet, either the browser extension or the app, preferably both.
Click ‘Create a Wallet’
You’ll be given a secret phrase. Never share your secret phrase. Treat it like your all-knowing password.
Follow through with the onboarding process
Once you’re done, you now have a Metamask wallet account and can start interacting with web3.
This guide can also be applied when creating a new wallet for most decentralized wallets, like phantom for Solana, and temple wallet for Tezos.
Buy some crypto
The next thing to do is buy some crypto. There are hundreds of thousands of coins out there for you to choose from, depending on your risk tolerance.
You can start by buying Ethereum or Bitcoin as these are the top 2 cryptocurrencies and relatively safe.
Join DAOs
The best way to get a feel of what the web3 community is all about is by joining a DAO and interacting with the community.
Find a DAO that speaks to you or one with people that you ~vibe~ with
You may have to purchase a membership through community tokens (not common)
Participate in your DAO’s Discord server or Telegram chat
The next best thing to do is dabble into Defi and start getting deep into the weeds.
If you have extra cash and are willing to spend some more in web3 you can:
Get your web3 name, which is basically your web3 username recorded on-chain. For example, rickroll.eth or never.tez.
Depending on the blockchain you like, where you get your web3 username might differ.
If you are in the Ethereum ecosystem then get your .eth username from ENS domains: https://ens.domains/
If you’re in the Tezos ecosystem, get your .tez username from tezos domains: https://tezos.domains/
For those in the Solana Ecosystem then https://naming.bonfida.org/#/ is the place to get your web3 username .sol
