Weekly Review
The individual can do nothing alone. It is only in relation to something else, to each other, to humanity, to this or that cause or endeavor or mission, that his or her efforts gain traction and meaning. From the beginning of life, we are members of a variety of communities - family, neighborhood, tribe, church, town, city, county, state, country, world. We are networked, hard wired into these combinations from millenia long processes of evolution, sourced from mysterious origins.
Western civilization has focused on the individual for too long. It is an illusory basis that creates a false impression surrounding the interconnected web of being in which we find ourselves during each moment of life. Unfettered individualism has encouraged selfishness and conflict and disintegration, and even war. Even the most detached, inveterate wanderers, explorers, or self-reliant trailblazers have people or cultures that they are connected to or which they are connecting, who can receive the story, who are perhaps the reason for the story.
We are on the verge of manifesting a new paradigm that will radically reshape all of our institutions and models of understanding. At Community DAO, we are conscious of this in our organization’s very name. It is our mission to study and realize this new pattern of collaboration in every facet of life.
The Comm- prefix is one of the most common roots in the English and Romance languages. Over 600 words contain the phrase. Deriving from the Latin com or cum, it means “together” or “with.” This is a perfect etymology for the word comm-unity. The sense of being together and unified, is at the heart of any community. Somehow our efforts become more meaningful in this context.
In web3 circles this feeling or development or building of community is often described as “network effect.” Network effect is a type of magic or indirect power emerging from this greater whole of any community. New things are possible in the context of this subtle energy, which makes all the difference. There is a hidden power that adds strength to any project, within the context of community. Because of this latent discovery, which we are more conscious of as our technology enables us to become aware, we can now begin to apply the model to our orientation in regards to the market and to reality, which we hope to improve, as a result.
Big developments this week at Community DAO! Our partnership with Alterverse has now been formalized. The CommTower will be built inside of the central plaza at the Epicenter of Sky City. This is happening! As we continue to grow on Twitter and Discord, our team of curators is developing the infrastructure for the CommTower NFT drive, which will be a type of real estate sale, in the metaverse. The basic outline for this sale can be seen here:
On top of these developments, we also learned that Alterverse has been selected by the Binance incubation program as a top new Metaverse for sponsorship in 2022!!! This is fantastic news and we want to align our efforts with the meteoric rise of Sky City, which will be CommDAOs go-to metaverse and the location of the CommTower.
What a fun world to be a part of as developers at the Community DAO! Are you ready to take global interaction to the next level, beyond Twitter and Discord and our mundane reality? Do you know someone who is interested in opening up shop in a new world? Bring them to us and we can find a place for them in the tower! There is something for everyone here. You can be the best you that you can dream up!
Outreach also continues in the Ravencoin community, as our foundation blockchain partners. With the BAYC overload of Ethereum last week during the Yuga Labs land sale, there has never been a better time to move towards Ravencoin, as a sounder basis for development, on top of Bitcoin. And as uncertainty mounts regarding the ETH pending “merge” this year, it may be time for you to move to the Raven. We offer assistance in onboarding and learning about how to tokenize through the Ravencoin system, as it will continue to emerge as a cornerstone of new business development, as tokens replace stocks as an equity model. And the Ravencoin community has great resources for learning and many helpful, friendly people. It is a wonderful network.
To promote Ravencoin, we at CommDAO, will also be sponsoring the construction of a 3d modeled Raven monument, the first in history, inside of Sky City, near the CommTower! More details will be coming soon about the “Quest For Lenore” and how you can become a part of the action. Stay tuned…

8 Amazing Things You Can Do In The Metaverse
The Metaverse is a virtual reality platform with fully immersive experiences and digital creations. In the Metaverse, anything and everything is possible. If you can dream it, you can build it. The Metaverse isn’t just for gaming. It is also a place for socializing, education, and even therapy. Here are 8 amazing things you can do in the Metaverse:
1. Make friends
One of the most powerful aspects of virtual reality is its ability to bring people together across great distances. In the Metaverse, you don’t have to be limited by your physical location to spend time with your loved ones. You don’t even need to be in the same room—you can meet up on opposite ends of the globe or at different times of day and still hang out together inside a digital space.
The Metaverse allows you to create an avatar (a digital representation of yourself) that you can customize and animate however you like. This avatar will “live” in the Metaverse, so you can interact with other avatars as though they were real people. Your avatar will allow you to experience the multiverse alongside other people, making it easy for you to find communities of friends and like-minded individuals.
2. Travel the world
You can explore something entirely new and see the world from anywhere at any time. Go to places that are off limits to most people or have once-in-a-lifetime experiences like swimming with dolphins or scuba diving in the coral reef. Visit the Parthenon or take a tour through Rome’s Colosseum, where gladiators once fought to the death for the entertainment and pleasure of their masters. Travel back in time hundreds of years and see what life was like then through some of history’s most important events like the Battle of Waterloo or the French Revolution. You could even go back in time millions of years to watch dinosaurs roam the Earth.
3. Attend a concert or conference
One of the most popular uses of the Metaverse is attending virtual conferences and concerts, where speakers can present their work or entertainers can put on a show for fans from all over the world. Fans of niche celebrities or tiny bands can still attend events even if they don’t live near each other, or it would be too expensive for everyone to travel long distances to see each other in real life.
4. Share your creations
If you’re an artist or designer, you can use VR to create works of art that would be impossible or impractical in real life. In some cases, it’s even better than reality because there are no limitations on what you can create. The Metaverse offers infinite possibilities for artists and designers who want to bring their ideas to life in a 3D environment.
Anyone can share their creations with others in the Metaverse, whether it’s a sculpture, painting, or even a virtual world. There are no restrictions on the types of content creators can share with others. People from all over the world will be able to see your work and interact with it, just as if they were there in person.
5. Teach others
Many schools are now using VR technology as an educational tool for students who may not be able to attend traditional school due to illness or disability. Students can now explore historical sites such as Pompeii or tour museums in Paris without ever leaving their homes. They can explore outer space and learn about our universe by traveling through galaxies and watching stars explode before their eyes.
6. Learn new skills
The Metaverse is an ideal space for learning new skills. Whether it’s learning how to play an instrument through VR training programs, studying foreign languages in immersive classrooms, or learning how to use programming languages like Python and JavaScript while building your own apps, there are endless possibilities for self-improvement.
7. Help others heal
Virtual reality therapy is being used with veterans to help them overcome PTSD. Patients are placed in situations that trigger their symptoms so they can work through them with a therapist and learn new ways to cope without medication or other invasive treatments. VR has been used in hospitals to help patients deal with the pain while they’re recovering from surgeries or injuries. It’s also a great way for therapists to connect with patients who cannot meet in person due to distance or other reasons.
8. Go shopping
The Metaverse has made shopping more accessible and more convenient than ever. You can find anything and everything in the Metaverse, whether you’re looking for a chic new outfit or a state-of-the-art handheld gaming device. There’s no need to go to any retail stores—simply visit your favorite virtual shops anytime you want. You can browse a wide range of catalogs from your favorite brands or even discover new brands that you didn’t know about before.
The best part about shopping in the Metaverse is that you can try on clothes before buying them without leaving the comfort of your own home. It’s like trying things on at an actual store, but without dealing with all the hassle and inconvenience of going there in person. You can also get advice from other users who have tried these clothing items on themselves, making it easy to make informed purchasing decisions.
In the end, the Metaverse is a whole new world that has been opened up to us. It will bring a new level of digital experience and socialization. The Metaverse will revolutionize our way of life and enable us to express ourselves in ways that are not possible today.

Difference between Proof of Work and Proof of Stake.
In this article, we will try to understand the difference between Proof of Work and Proof of Stake. However, before going further, let us talk about blockchain and the consensus mechanism.
What is Blockchain?
Blockchain, in simple terms, is a database that consists of some information or record. A database can be of two types — centralized or decentralized.
A centralized database is owned and controlled by a single authority which is:
— prone to attack by hackers, exposing your personal information
— not tamper-proof (controlling authority can make data changes)
For example, Domino’s pizza database is attacked, and its users’ sensitive information is exposed worldwide. In a decentralized database, the control is not in the hands of a single entity, but a network of nodes or computers that run it. Therefore, making it difficult to tamper with it. So, we can say a decentralized database is the concept of blockchain.
What is the consensus mechanism, and why do we need it?
Now the question is, who can enter information into the blockchain? Are there any criteria for that? Yes, otherwise, anyone can play with the data. Therefore, it requires the nodes to have skin in the game. Skin in the game implies that the good actors will be incentivized, and the bad ones will be punished.
The two most popular consensus mechanisms are Proof of Work and Proof of Stake.

What is Proof of Work?
One network that utilizes Proof of Work (POW) is Bitcoin for validating the transactions and adding blocks to the blockchain.
Here, to validate the transactions and add the block, the node must prove to the network that it has expensed substantial electricity and computational power (that it is not a bad actor). In straightforward terms, nodes need to find a hash for adding a block to the blockchain, so they compete for it with their computational power (high cost of running it).
The node that first finds the correct hash can add the block to the blockchain (get rewarded in Bitcoin). So, will a node try to enter false transactions into the block and then add them to the blockchain? If a node does it, it implies it has already expensed substantial power and electricity, and as the blockchain has compromised, the bitcoin rewarded to the nodes will fall in the value. So, the outcome will be ultimate loss only.
What is Proof of Stake?
In the case of POW, nodes are competing among themselves with sheer computational power and electricity to find the hash. In Proof of Stake (POS), the nodes will need to stake 32 Ether (in the case of ETH 2.0). Among other criteria, the network will choose who will be the validator (validate transactions and add the block to the blockchain). One of the significant advantages of POS (ETH 2.0) over POW (ETH 1.0) is that it eliminates nearly 99.95% of energy consumption.
What are NFTs and 3 PRACTICAL use cases of NFTs?
NFTs are the new kid on the block everyone can't stop talking about.
In this article, we'll cover:
What is an NFT in its purest form
3 PRACTICAL use cases of NFTs
What are NFTs?
Let's break it down.
Fungible means anything that is replaceable. For example, the dollar bill is fungible.
Non Fungible means nonreplaceable and unique. There are no two things like it.
Tokens are simply a virtual currency.
NFTs are unique tokens on the blockchain.

NFTs aren't just JPGs. JPGs are one of the use cases of NFTs, but there is more to NFTs than that. NFTs are technology, and BAYC is a collection utilizing that technology. Saying that NFTs are speculative investments is a wrong oversimplification of the entire technology. It's like saying the Internet is a place for people to buy goods (on Amazon). The Internet is more than that, and so are NFTs.
NFT use cases
We won't be touching on the NFT as JPEGs use case, which is already a widely known thing.
NFTs as a way of ensuring the authenticity of products
Imports of counterfeit and pirated goods reached EUR 119 billion in 2019, representing 5.8% of all goods entering the EU, according to the latest data from OECD and EUIPO. Keeping in mind that this was in the EU alone, and we have six other continents not accounted for shows there's a massive problem easily solved by NFTs.
A practical way this can be done is by minting an NFT alongside every good manufactured and then adding a bar code and metadata that can be linked back to the NFT. Since the blockchain is immutable and metadata is at large random, this can't be faked. A large percentage of counterfeit goods sold will go down as there's an immutable and trusted verification method.
NFTs for medical records and identity verification
Some of you are already bringing up the caveat of not wanting your medical records public on the blockchain but wait a minute.
There's something called a private chain which is unlike public blockchain platforms. Private blockchain solutions tend to focus on privacy concerns. So don't worry; your information is very much safe and private.
When transferring data, there are constant bottlenecks in sorting through files and moving records from Hospital A to Hospital B. This is solved easily with a private blockchain. Instead of sorting through files and sending files, Hospital A accesses the private blockchain (requests access given by consensus) and then searches through your record to get the info you need.
NFTs for solving supply chain constraints
Supply chain disruptions are economic hardship, costing organizations around the world an average of USD 184 million per year. NFTs can help by tackling the problem from its root to clearance.
What delays clearance at the port? Verifying where the goods came from, their authenticity, and where they are going. The process of getting the files is lengthy and creates a backlog as more people import goods.
If all the goods are tagged with an NFT from the start, the process of verifying the metadata with a simple scan will eliminate 85% of the problem.
In the coming years, we will see more development in this field, and you might not even realize that it's already here at the rate it is going.

The Culmination of Decentralized Creativity
Videogames are second nature to many people. Loving the freedom of design, creation and play in a completely different world is a treasure that humanity continues to expound on. The beauty of imagination allows us to generate a multiplicity of experiences with no boundaries. Like the Tetris effect where we are able to visualize patterns of results in our minds, we are able to compete not only in this universe but also in a dreamscape of design aspirations. Whether that be finding the best chess moves or designing robots who dream themselves, apocalyptic and futurism fanatics no longer have to be constrained by the limitations of our society. We can dream of ourselves in another world while we craft our habitat into a cohesive flow of human activity. The futuristic game, Halo, has caused millions of children to dream of driving a Warthog and allowed us to play with technologies outside of our reach. The post-apocalyptic game, Fallout, caused millions of people to dream of a future based on factional collections of humans, a dream where we can join legions of people worshiping life without technological restraints who coexist with brotherhoods using mechanical devices to rebuild cities. The point being these games are not only responsible for occupying our minds, but for allowing us to experience life outside of the framework that society binds us to.
The late architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, hated garages. He believed that they were destined to be cluttered with things we didn’t need and disorganized storage for items people don’t want to get rid of. For a lot of households that has come true; however, there is another truth. Garages have the potential to become community spaces. With the right design, these spaces have the opportunity to allow for creativity between neighbors and like-minded individuals. What if your garage was managed by a collective of woodworkers and you were able to create anything you wanted. What if the table you built needed aluminum legs and instead of having to buy a welding kit you walked down the street to a garage managed by the aluminum guild. Houses in this fashion would always be beneficial to the community and cause the creativity of people to have no bounds. The decentralization of design is the culmination of human ingenuity.
Now we reach the other side of the coin: what if you have a passion outside of physical objects? What if you desire to work purely in a virtual environment? We already have cities and towers that are designed in the same mindset as our suburban environment. Separation of work and home life has failed and more and more people are working from home or in a hybrid manner. CommTower, Sky Cities, Space Colonies, Desert Metropolouses, and even the Shire from Lord of the Rings solve these problems. They allow designers to make the community the forefront and center of innovation but that is not enough. We must leave no one behind. Every white picket fence house and every abandoned factory is a breeding ground for innovation and a necessary step to realizing the dream of a harmonious future.
Historical preservation and renovation is an important step in the transformation of our world. If we stand purely with an “out with the old, in with the new” attitude, we could very well deplete our resources until our planet becomes a hollowed place leading us to destruction. The pandemic helped us realize that our offices and workplaces were designed not for the workers but for the enrichment of magic that mysteriously disappeared and was replaced by the people’s desire for comfort in their own homes. Now is the time to reclaim those spaces. We can create a new effort to work in the city by ensuring your office has a floor for your children to learn. We can increase collaboration by creating a floor purely of holographic information and portals to other worlds. What if there were no boundaries on the types of activities that could happen nearby you so everything you could ever dream of was within a fifteen-minute walk from your captain’s chair. What if you could fast travel on underground networks to meet up with furniture designers living in the suburbs. How much reinforcement would it take to put a park on top of every building or a floor completely open to the elements? These buildings are being vacated anyway as we change how we work, we might as well use them to house our homeless and feed our ambitions.
Now, we love the mobility and freedom of cars, but what if wherever you went all you heard was the sound of birds chirping and children playing. The people who really love the design and power of automobiles wouldn’t be lost either and we can envision places for them to drive however fast they wanted and compete with their homies on which of their toys is the coolest.
Work is becoming more fun and more relaxing and all of these spaces deserve to exist in a new dimension where we are never too far away from playscapes.
Sidenote: why are there no restaurants that have adult-sized jungle gyms?... asking for a friend.
